Chiropractors have extensive training in the anatomy, and the bio mechanics, of the lower extremities including the Feet. The Doctors at Discovery Chiropractic are all certified to evaluate and diagnose foot conditions and then prescribe and construct the appropriate custom made orthotic.
Some of the more common foot conditions we diagnose are; plantar fasciitis, calluses, Morton’s Neuroma, bunions, over pronation syndrome and hallux Valgus.
The overall aim of the orthotic therapy is to normalize the biomechanical patterns of the feet.
FAQ
Q. What are custom made orthotics?
A. Custom made orthotics are inserts placed in your shoes to improve the bio mechanics of your feet. Custom made orthotics are custom designed based on problems an individual has with their feet. It is very unusual for people to have perfectly functioning feet.
Q. How are the Custom Made Orthotics made?
A. There are different methods for making custom made orthotics. At Discovery Chiropractic we will perform a thorough foot history and examination. A computerized scan of your gait and feet will be performed. Occasionally we need additional information and a mold is taken of your feet. The information will then be sent to Footmaxx Orthotic Group, where they will fabricate your custom made orthotics. Their custom labs manufacture orthotics from static casts by pouring a positive plaster cast and then vacuum-forming material to form the corrective orthotic module. Q. Will my Extended Health Insurance cover my orthotics?

Each employer has a different contract with the insurance company so we urge you to read your policy to find out your coverage. Discovery Chiropractic will give you all the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance company so you can get reimbursed as soon as possible.
Q. What is the cost of custom made orthotics?
A.The cost of the evaluation, diagnosis and construction of your orthotics are $375.
If you decide to consult us about your foot problems, you can expect a thorough history and examination of your feet.
We then perform a footmaxx computerize gait analysis. The computerized gait analysis is an objective way to look at your foot problem. It provides an efficient, highly accurate and scientific means of patient assessment.
You will be asked to walk normally over a computerized scanner three times. The computers pressure scanner picks up how your feet are functioning bio mechanically as you walk. After all, you want your feet to be working as they should while you are in motion.
In addition, the doctors may want to take static molds of your feet.
Finally a dynamic image will appear on the computer monitor and then the doctor will go over the results and make the appropriate recommendations.
It usually takes about two week for your orthotics to be constructed and sent to our office."It took me awhile to get used to my new orthotics, especially with having plantar Fasciitis, but within a few days they felt great and my condition completely resolved in about four months. Now I just wear them so my condition doesn’t return."
